The Lever Room helps organisations make sharper, defensible decisions on climate and nature.
We combine science, strategy and technology and we’re building software that turns complex environmental data into decisions organisations can trust.
We’re looking for a Full-Stack Product Engineer to help shape and ship those tools.
What you’ll do
You’ll help build and ship product features across the stack, including:
Building customer-facing web experiences in React / TypeScript that turn complex data into clear decisions
Owning features end-to-end across frontend, backend APIs and cloud infrastructure
Working with data-heavy workflows and model-driven systems, with a focus on reliability, traceability and performance
Partnering with product/design to translate messy real-world requirements into clean user flows and great UX
Tightening engineering foundations as you go: testing, documentation/playbooks, maintainability and release discipline
Improving deployment confidence with lightweight CI/CD and sensible checks, so shipping is safe and repeatable
Using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate build velocity while keeping quality and security high
Building practical internal tooling where it saves time and reduces risk
The kind of engineer we’re looking for
This role suits someone who enjoys owning problems end-to-end, not just implementing tickets. You’re likely someone who:
Learns and adapts quickly
Uses modern AI development tools confidently with good judgment
Prioritises security and sensible engineering hygiene
Is comfortable building across frontend, backend APIs and cloud infrastructure
Has strong React / TypeScript product development experience
Is comfortable in Azure or another major cloud platform, such as AWS or GCP, and willing to learn fast
Has shipped real products, not just prototypes, and understands reliability trade-offs
Can take rough direction and turn it into working software quickly
Is comfortable in environments where requirements evolve
Has good judgment on when to prioritise speed versus polish
Nice to have/preferred:
Experience with Next.js and modern component systems
Experience building data-rich dashboards, decision tools or analytical products
Experience with Python backend development; FastAPI is a plus
Experience with modern data platforms; Databricks is a plus
Familiarity with cloud storage, APIs and CI/CD/deployment pipelines
Familiarity with infrastructure as code; Bicep or Terraform is a plus
Experience working in small teams building new products
Comfort working in technically complex, data-heavy domains
What success looks like
In the first few weeks, you’ll start to:
· Ship improvements that materially improve product usability and clarity
· Translate product direction into working software regularly
· Improve the quality and maintainability of the product stack
· Help reduce dependency on single contributors by improving documentation, process and engineering foundations.
You’ll have real ownership over what gets built and how it works.
The problems are technically interesting and the work helps solve real-world problems.
